Every so often a bike comes along that genuinely refuses to be put in a box, and the new Honda CB1000GT is exactly that. Part sports bike, part tourer, all Honda, it is built for riders who want one machine that can carve up a Sunday back road and carry them comfortably to the south of France the following week.

A superbike heart with touring manners
At the centre of the CB1000GT sits a 1,000cc inline-four with real pedigree, tracing its DNA back to the CBR1000RR Fireblade. Retuned for this bike, it produces a healthy 147.6 bhp, but the clever part is how it delivers it. Smooth and civilised when you are cruising, urgent and thrilling when you crack the throttle open. It is the same engine family that made the CB1000 Hornet such a hit, given a more grown up, long-legged character.
Genuinely one bike for everything
This is where the GT earns its badge. It comes with Showa EERA semi-active suspension as standard, which adjusts the damping on the fly to suit the road and your riding. Add five riding modes (Sport, Rain, Tour, Standard and a custom User setting) and a six-axis IMU managing cornering ABS and traction control, and you have a bike that feels sharp when you want it and completely relaxed when you do not.

Honda have three accessory packs so you can tailor the GT to how you ride. The Comfort Pack adds a taller screen, fog lights and plush seats. The Sports Pack sharpens the looks with a belly pan and detailing. And the Urban Pack brings a 50-litre top box and rear carrier for the commuters and everyday riders. You can mix and match too, so it is easy to build the bike around you.
